TIPCO COCONUT WATER!
Why are people telling us that Tipco Coconut water is one of the most underrated coconut waters? We were curious too after receiving several emails telling us that Tipco Coconut Water is the best tasting and why wasn’t it on our website? Good question, we managed to get in touch with the distributor from New South Wales and finally got our hands on a 1 litre tetra pack.
We couldn’t wait to try it after reading the label on the tetra pack “Using only the best tasting coconuts from selected plantations in Thailand, Tipco 100% coconut water is naturally tasty and sweet. It tastes as good as drinking straight from a freshly cracked coconut at the beach”. It also contains very reasonable sugar and sodium levels which impressed us before we even had a taste.
After indoor soccer one sunny Sunday we finally cracked on Tipco 100% Coconut Water and had our first taste. It was a pleasant, coconut based flavour that was nice to drink. During the drive home I also had a banana and muesli bar but still felt something was missing after a particularly hard session.
I put the lack of energy down to hydration and proceeded to rehydrate myself by drinking around 100mls for the next hour. I couldn’t believe it when I had drunk around half the tetra pack it started to taste absolutely amazing and I started to feel energetic and alive again. So much so I ended up going shopping and getting my weekly shopping finished within record time and still felt good.
After our experiences we agree that Tipco Coconut Water certainly is underrated and can recommend it for anyone wanting a nice tasting coconut water that comes with a bonus boost after you drink it!
This is partly due the fact it was one of the first 500ml coconut water cans out and initially had an extremely sweet taste which was great if you like sweet drinks. However recently the taste has become more subtle to appeal to a wider audience and is enjoyed by coconut water lovers all around Australia!
Coconut Essence packs a good punch of vitamins including Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Calcium and also Manganese and Zinc. This means you should be able to use Coconut Essence as an effective cramp and dehydration preventer while working out hard. There is also a minimal amount of sugar in each can which is always good since sugar is the new “bad boy” in our diets!
Great for smoothies, straight up drinking or cocktails you will find Coconut Essence a healthy all-round coconut water suitable for most tastes. What’s sweet yet subtle? Malee Coconut Water! We challenge you to share this review with a friend who has never liked coconut water.
If you’ve ever found coconut water too over powering or not a nice texture you may just enjoy Malee Coco. It is possibly the best coconut water if you haven’t enjoyed coconut water before or if you simply want to sweeten a protein shake. From experience it is definitely is an “upgrade” in a protein shake and helps the powder mix better too meaning less lumps.

We put Cocobella’s Chilled Green Machine Super Smoothie under the spotlight
When was the last time you tasted a smoothie from your local supermarket? During a visit to Woolworths I first noticed the huge bottle of Cocobella’s Chilled Green Machine Super Smoothie staring at me and I wondered what it was and more importantly what it tasted like. I couldn’t resist buying it and couldn’t wait to get it home, chilled and then tasted.
What’s in this “Super Smoothie” exactly?
It turns out the Coconut Water based Super Smoothie is vegan and vegetarian friendly as it contains the following ingredients:
- Coconut water (83%)
- Mango puree (7%)
- Spinach (2%)
- Mint (0.3%)
- Spirulina (.05%)
- Lemon juice from concentrate
- Coconut cream
- Raw sugar
- Citrus fibre
On paper it does look like a potent combination however after first tasting the smoothie it was very surprising! It has a “healthy” taste dominated by mint (even though it’s very minimal?), is thicker than coconut water but still easy to drink. However if you’re a fussy person for coconut water taste you may not like it as much as I did.
Were there any side effects from the Green Machine Super Smoothie?
After drinking half a bottle in a couple of minutes it was evident I did not suffer the side effects of a dairy based smoothie however the taste is quite similar, maybe not as creamy like you’d expect.
It was surprisingly very light to drink and not heavy on the stomach at all, even when you drink half of it in a couple of minutes, oops! I would not advise doing this unless you want to subject your body to a substantial 30 grams of sugar however I did use it as a pre-workout drink!
Used as a pre-workout drink it turns you into a machine – no joke!
Fortunately after drinking half the 1 litre bottle in minutes I went on a 45 minute sprint session and it gave me all the energy I needed to get through the sets.
I felt great during each set (apart from out of breath) and still great after finishing (not lethargic, mentally drained or feeling hungry). Therefore if you use it as a pre-workout drink you can expect to have more energy and feel like you can keep going for longer.
Oddly enough after finishing the workout the smoothie tastes even better than before (probably due to the sugar!) and was very refreshing. It tasted more like coconut water and the over powering mint taste at the start wasn’t so dominant.
The low down on what exactly is in the “Super Smoothie”
The amount of sugar and carbs in the Cocobella Chilled Green Machine Super Smoothie are at the upper end of the scale compared to normal coconut water. However you would expect this after looking at the list of ingredients above that aren’t in coconut water drinks.
Larger nutritional numbers are generally expected for all coconut waters that contain fruit juice or coffee which are higher in sugar and carbs due to the extra ingredients (eg. Coconut water with mango is higher in sugar than straight coconut water by 3 grams in every 100 mls).
How should I drink the Green Machine Super Smoothie to get the most out of it? For a start shake really well!
Since the Super Smoothie stays fresh for up to 5 days under refrigeration we would recommend drinking up to 250 ml a day to get the most out of it. By doing this not only keeps the level of sugar and carbs at an acceptable level each day it also makes it cheaper and more economical than buying the equivalent number of standard 200 ml coconut water tetra packs.
Who would get the most benefits out of it?
We would recommend this smoothie for people on the go who may not have previously enjoyed coconut water. However if you already love the taste of most coconut water this smoothie can be a great addition to your week if you need a hydrating drink pre or post work out.

H2Coco Coconut Water Cocoespresso
This is a brand new coconut water to hit the market and contains one of our other favourites, COFFEE! Now you may be wondering if these 2 awesome ingredients can combine and taste nice? We were pleasantly surprised how nice this coconut water from Thailand is to drink, just like a cold brew coffee but with all the added benefits of potassium and hydration.
The next step was to try it in a smoothie as we needed some energy before a casual kick about at indoor soccer. After feeling a little bit tired we added it to our usual smoothie blend that fills us up but with a difference. Around 15 minutes after consuming the smoothie we felt the “pump” you typically get after drinking coffee!
Real Coco Aloe Vera by Taste Nirvana
Do you need a drink that is healthy and will brighten up your day? The first noticeable quality about Taste Nirvana’s Real Coco Aloe Vera was the subtle taste compared to 100% coconut water, as it is a mix between aloe vera and coconut water. It is very refreshing and the taste isn’t as evident as coconut water which is good if you find coconut water too overpowering or strong to drink.
We found it to contain the following benefits:
- A good alternative to 100% coconut water
- Very refreshing and easy to drink
- Contains round pulp which some people like
- Helps you feel more re-vitalised after a work out
- Assists in cooling down the body after a work out
- Low in sugar (only 4g per 100ml)
Real Coco Aloe Vera is recommended if you cannot drink coconut water and need an alternative drink to plain water for feeling better after a gym session or work out. It is also ideal when consumed icy cold in the can.

H2Coco has a very nice tasting flavoured coconut water with Pomegranate & Acai that is extremely refreshing on a hot day. It is 95% natural coconut water with 4% natural pomegranate puree and 1% natural acai puree which is good considering the sugar content is only a minimal 5.1 grams in every 100 grams.
The taste of this coconut water is slightly sweet with a subtle taste of pomegranate that gives it a unique taste that is actually quite addictive to drink. After the beach on a hot day it definitely can help you feel hydrated again after being exposed to the sun for a couple of hours.
We would recommend this flavoured coconut water to those of you who do not particularly like the taste of straight coconut water but desire the benefits. The 5% flavour is enough to make the coconut water taste slightly different but not enough to be unhealthy like juice can be (high sugar content).
