To put it bluntly, it is water from a coconut! Easily mistaken for its creamier brother ‘coconut milk’, coconut water can be found in young green coconuts, usually around 7 months old. The ‘coconut milk’ that everyone is more familiar with, comes from the ripened coconut (when the young green coconut turns into a brown husky coconut – usually what you see in the fruit aisle of your supermarket).
Now, seeing as coconut water is the new and up and coming fad, it was a matter of time before I jumped onto the coconut train and see what all the hype was about so around 2 years ago we started reviewing all the coconut waters available in Australia!
But why should I drink this water from a coconut?
According to Health Mad, Coconut water is the purest liquid second only to water itself. It is choc-full of electrolytes, calcium, potassium, magnesium; everything that is good for you for only around 60 calories per serve.
